In recent years, forest wood chips in Austria have changed from fuel for small furnaces to energy for electricity and heat generation on a large scale. The standardization landscape around wood chips no longer corresponds to practice.
In order to create suitable rules and definitions, the Kooperationsplattform Forst Holz Papier initiated an industry project in cooperation with Holzforschung Austria. In expert workshops, a broad sample screening and a diploma thesis at the BOKU, the data basis for the creation of the forest wood chips standard ÖNORM C 4005 is being developed.
