Monitoring Microbial Life and Deposits in Paper Machine Circuits

Triggered by environmental concerns water circuits in paper machines were closed to an increasing extend in recent years and aggressive agents were replaced by more einvoronmentally friendly chemicals. This opened up new areas where biofilm could build up through the activity of micro organisms. The ÖZEPA-project is aiming at developing methods for monitoring biofilm build-up. These methods are to enable industry to take measures which are efficive, environmentally sage and in line with operating requirements.  Also the waste-water treatment facilities operated by companies are expected to see a performance-gain.
