Climate change. A buzzword that has become a turning point in the management of our forests. With a changing supply of wood species, the use of hardwoods in construction is now within reach. Since most native hardwoods have only a low natural durability, suitable protection concepts are required for future use. This is being investigated as part of the OptTreat research project "Optimization of active ingredient distribution in hardwoods". The focus is on protecting hardwood against wood-destroying fungi, researching the distribution of active ingredients in the wood substrate, and protecting the environment by minimizing the wash-off of active ingredients.
