Holzforschung Austria wants to offer all employees a cooperative and supportive working environment as well as adequate professional development opportunities, preferably in harmony with their private/family responsibilities – regardless of gender, age, origin, family forms, sexual orientation, or religion. The goal is the equal participation of women, men, and diverse persons in all functional areas and at all hierarchical levels.
Innovative through diversity and gender competence
We not only see it as our social obligation to promote equal opportunities, HFA itself benefits from mixed teams and more women in leadership positions: Diversity means a broader horizon and holds new opportunities as well as a wide range of solutions to current challenges. The development of gender competence supports a diverse corporate culture for the benefit of all employees.
Fem4Wood – Development and introduction of a gender equality process at HFA
HFA employees are developing a gender equality process in the FEMtech career project Fem4Wood, in close cooperation with an external gender expert. Our executives and key employees are being trained in their gender competence. We are working on a coaching and mentoring system to support the development of female executives and the trans-generational transfer of knowledge and experience. Gender- and diversity-sensitive communication is being expanded both internally and externally. An unprejudiced, non-sexist language in words and images is considered standard practice at the Institute.
Fem4Wood (2021-2023) was supported by the talent promotion programme of the Federal Ministry for Climate Action, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology (BMK).
The Gender Equality Plan of Holzforschung Austria
We pursue our gender equality strategy with mutually coordinated measures and regular monitoring, as can be found in our current Gender Equality Plan (GEP):
