research area: Building & living
project status: ongoing

The aim of this project is the research of the numerical simulation of the fire behaviour of wooden structures in order to largely replace complex and expensive fire tests in the future. The basis for the numerical models is created by measuring the thermophysical building material data in the high-temperature range and by validating it with small and large fire tests.
Together with our partner institute IBS within a cooperation laboratory of ACR the acquisition of a simulation infrastructure (hardware and software) as well as the know-how structure for the CFD / FEM modelling is planned in order to be able to develop sufficiently realistic models.
