Sound.Wood.Austria_AI

research area: Building & living
project status: ongoing
design-element

In the project Sound.Wood.Austria_AI, TU Graz and Holzforschung Austria are developing the basis for an AI-based planning tool intended to predict the sound insulation of timber building elements and acoustic performance of timber buildings. The database includes, among others, laboratory and in-situ measurements from over 25 years of Austrian timber construction research, supplemented by new measurements and simulations. A physics-informed hybrid AI is to combine generative and physical-analytical approaches. This allows effects of fasteners, interlayers or junctions to be modelled resource-efficiently, which previous prediction models capture only with significant effort.
