The goal of the project is the prediction of the probability of bluestain on sawn timber based on the interaction of different variables. The essential foundations for predicting the sensitivity to bluestain are based on modern methods. The chemical and microscopic information, which is obtained using several mapping methods (e.g. scanning electron microscopy), is combined in a common data structure ("hypercube"). Further statistical analysis is carried out to determine the causal relationship between nutrient source, structural properties of the wood and fungal growth.
