The consideration of ecological aspects becomes more and more important for the building industry. For the use of insolation from sustainable raw materials, often questions arise about thermal conductivity and durability. In the research Project ThermNat, we investigate these two topics together with the Fraunhofer Institute for Building Physics IBP: Considering the interaction between moisture behaviour and heat transport, the existing rules for determining the thermal conductivity of moisture-sensitive materials is questioned. Furthermore, a method to classify the durability of insulation from sustainable raw materials is developed.
