TreeGuard
Climate changes are leading to increased (re)forestation in our forests. As a result, the demand for tree shelters, especially alternative, biodegradable ones, is growing. Conventional, plastic-based tree shelters leave large amounts of micro/nanoplastics in our forests. The aim of the project "TreeGuard” is to develop a biodegradable material made of coated paper and to create methods for measuring the durability during and the biodegradability after use of conventional and alternative tree protectors in order to determine and reduce the input of micro/nanoplastics into forest soils.
